The caramel donuts is a very known donuts recipe in american cuisine. With its simple steps and the great sweet taste, you won’t resist it.
Preparing the dough of the donuts
Pour the flour, baking powder, sugar and a pinch of salt in a bowl.
Warm the milk in the microwave or in a saucepan and add it to the bowl: mix well. Beat the eggs in a bowl and fold them into the dough.
Cut the soft butter into small cubes and add them to the dough.
Kneading the dough
Knead the dough well until the pieces of butter disappear and the dough becomes very elastic.
Place a cloth on your dough ball and let it rise for at least 2 hours in a warm room. Tap the ball of dough with the palm of your hand and knead it to remove the air.
Flour your work surface and, with a rolling pin, spread your ball of dough so as to obtain a height of about 5mm.
With a round cookie cutter (about 5 cm), cut out circles in the dough.
You can try chocolate donuts.
Flour your baking sheet and place your circles next to each other. Put a cloth over again and let rise for 3/4 of an hour.
Cooking the caramel donuts
Put the frying oil to heat in the fryer.
Make a first test with a single donut. It must be cooked in 3 minutes and get a golden color. Readjust the temperature if the donut is overcooked or undercooked.
Then put all your donuts in the fryer: once cooked, sprinkle with icing sugar or granulated sugar and place them on paper towel to absorb the excess oil.
Put the salted butter caramel in a pastry bag and stuff your donuts.
Served with hot drink (hot chocolate millk)
