The karkanji is a drink made of hibiscus flowers. Generally known in the jamaican cuisine. But today we brought you the tchadian version of the karkanji tea.
Preparing the elements
Wash 5 cm of fresh ginger carefully and cut it into thin slices.
Put the ginger in a liter of cold water and bring to the boil and boil for 10 minutes.
Cooking the karkanji
Turn off the heat and pour the hibiscus flowers, cloves and cinnamon whose sticks have been broken in the water.
Cover the pan with its lid and allow the preparation to cool completely.
The preparation took on the color of red wine after this maceration.
Filtering the karkanji drink
Pour it in a carafe or a bottle and sweeten to taste, three tablespoons seems to me the right dosage, but after it is up to you to see what suits you best. You may not sweeten it at all too!
If you enjoy this recipe you can try Green Tea.
Film the carafe and cool until ready to serve. This hibiscus drink can also be drunk hot as an infusion, it has a very pleasant taste, a little warm (I’m talking about the taste) and slightly tart.
Served hot or cold , with some diet biscuits.
