As we know in the European cuisine, oatmeal can be made in several ways. Today we will show you how to make the salted oatmeal recipe with bacon and cheese.
Prepare the ingredients
Start by cutting the bacon into stripes (or small cubes).
Then cut the onion into small pieces, you are going to use two quantities separately in the following steps.
Cook the bacon
Then in a saucepan, pour little of frying oil and cook the bacon over medium heat for about 5 minutes or until crisp. Remove the bacon and drain them on paper towels to absorb. Reserve.
Remove all the bacon fat from the pan, except 1 teaspoon (15 ml). Reserve 2 teaspoon of green onions. Then add the rest to the pan and cook for about 3 minutes. Add the oats and cook well with stirring constantly, for 30 seconds.
Make the salted oatmeal mixture
Pour the milk and bring to a boil. After a while reduce the heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 7 to 10 minutes or until you notice that the mixture is tender and creamy enough. Pour a pinch of salt and pepper.
Add half a cup (about 125 ml) of the cheese and half of the reserved bacon, and mix.
